Immunity ginger shots are very popular and easy to find in many grocery stores and juice bars. However, these little energy boosters can be expensive and not always completely natural. I started making them from scratch during the COVID-19 pandemic, a time when everyone was searching for ways to boost their health and combat the virus and its consequences. With just a few simple ingredients, you can easily prepare numerous small bottles, which I discovered online and are easy to store in the fridge for several days. Personally, I drink one in the morning after breakfast to kick-start my day.

The origins of ginger shots are rooted in history and have been used in various traditional medicines. In particular, ginger is a staple ingredient in Chinese medicine, known for treating colds, improving circulation, and boosting the body’s natural defenses. In the early 2000s, juice bars and health food stores began offering immunity shots, and during the COVID-19 pandemic, they became even more popular among people seeking natural remedies.

I store the ginger-lemon beverage in small glass bottles, which help preserve the freshness of the ingredients and are better for longer storage. These ginger shots can be kept in the refrigerator for about 5 to 7 days. Finally, before drinking one, I suggest shaking the bottle to mix the ingredients, especially the ginger, which tends to settle at the bottom.

My tips for fresh juice

  • Add ice cubes if you want your shots to be cold, and drink them immediately.

  • Use fresh ginger and lemon to ensure the best flavor and maximum health benefits.

  • If the ginger shot is too spicy or tart, you can a bit of honey, maple syrup or stevia to balance out the flavors.
