Hi, my name is Sofia and I give you a warm welcome to Nutritiously Sofia ! I’m a vegetarian food blogger and I believe no plan compares a good meal shared at a convivial table. I embrace the wholesome and delightful experience of cooking with fresh and nutritious ingredients. Moreover, I enjoy sharing quality time in the kitchen with my loved ones.
A passion for food passed down through generations
Growing up in Italy with my grandparents, the unforgettable aromas of my Nonna’s kitchen bind my childhood memories. I remember spending hours by her side. I would listen intently to absorb her precious advices and steal with my eyes to replicate the movements. The kitchen was- and still is- where I lose track of time and feel most creative.
Today, though far from my Nonna’s kitchen, her spirit of sharing fresh and nutritious food still guides me. Just one change has made me modify my Nonna’s most cherished recipes: I am now vegetarian. Being Italian and proud of our food culture, I was apprehensive about giving up the most traditional dishes. Despite this, I experimented with substituting ingredients and I discovered that an endless variety of recipes are suitable for vegetarians. To give you a sneak peek, did you know that vegetarians don’t have to sacrifice carbonara ?
Delicious vegetarian recipes across cultures
Another passion of mine is traveling. I have always felt the need to go abroad, gain new experiences and discover cultures. It makes me reconnect more deeply with my roots. Meeting people from all around the world also means discovering new culinary habits and tastes previously unknown to me. Despite the cultural gap, cuisine is a unique and amazing link that can foster relationships and create special bonds.
As a vegetarian food blogger, cooking possesses the incredible power to let you explore the globe without taking an airplane. Is it possible to travel through your taste buds alone. Indeed, the creativity of vegetarian and vegan cuisine helps me escape common flavors and cross my kitchen’s boundaries.
Nutritiously Sofia was created as a recipe box to dive into both traditional and less common vegetarian and vegan dishes. Switching to a green diet doesn’t mean you have to give up your favourite childhood dishes. Here, you’ll find intriguing alternatives. You won’t need to overhaul your pantry; still, these unique tastes will awaken your palate and renew your enthusiasm.
Don’t worry, put on your apron and join me on this foodie journey. I’ve already done the hard work for you and I can assure you that the results won’t disappoint.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you have recipes for specific dietary needs (vegan, lactose-free , gluten-free, keto) ?
The recipes that you will find on Nutritiously Sofia are primarily vegetarian, but many are also suitable for various diets, especially the vegan one. I will try to provide suggestions in the recipe description for easily substituting ingredients to adapt the dish to your specific needs. Don’t worry, I am confident that everyone will find something that suits them best.
Do I have to be vegetarian to try your recipes ?
Absolutely not, it is not a requirement. My parents, who have always been my main testers, are not vegetarian and they really enjoy the meals that I invite them to try. If you give priority to good, fresh and nutritious ingredients the taste goes beyond the dietary labels. Moreover, I like it when people don’t immediately realize that they are eating something vegetarian and on top of that they don’t feel the need to add meat products, because it means that I have done my job well.
How can I keep up with the recipes published weekly ?
The easiest way to make sure you don’t miss any new recipes is to sign up for email updates. It is absolutely free, and by doing so, you will receive new blog posts in your inbox.
Do you provide calorie counts for your recipes?
Unfortunately, you won’t find nutritional informations for these recipes. There are two main reasons that explain my choice: first of all, I am just a vegetarian food blogger passionate and not a dietitian, so I believe sharing calorie counts would not be appropriate or professional. Secondly, I personally disagree with focusing on calories when choosing a recipe, as I believe that a dish cannot be defined as healthy or not solely based on its calorie content; instead, we should focus more on its nutrient profile.
The recipe I tried did not turn out. What did I do wrong?
I kindly ask you to be understanding, knowing that all Nutritiously Sofia recipes are previously tested by me in my own kitchen. Despite this, failures can still happen. Many factors can affect the process, but unfortunately I am not physically with you in the kitchen. For this, I recommend you stay motivated and get back to cooking, because no mistake is impossible to solve and I am sure that you will success next time. In any case, don’t hesitate to get in touch with me by filling out the form on the contact me page.
